On July 19, 2022, we appealed to the CEO and legal advisor of Maccabi Health Services, requesting that all information and services that appear on their website and in their application be translated into Arabic.

Maccabi Health Services currently provides partial translation services using Google Translate. The translation solely applies to a small segment of the services and information on the health maintenance organization’s (HMO’s) website, and can be confusing and in some cases even misleading, redirecting toward pages in Hebrew. Moreover, the partial translation is not up-to-date regarding various services of significance such as appointments, lab services, and more.

In the appeal, Attorney Tal Hassin wrote that the absence of online services and comprehensive information in Arabic, entails that many insured individuals who are not proficient in Hebrew on their own, cannot carry out basic actions related to their health and insurance rights independently. These individuals do not receive the comprehensive information that the HMO provides to Hebrew speakers, in grave violation of their rights to equality, health, and dignity.
