Disrupted Education: The Violation of Palestinian Children's Right to Education in the West Bank

Education is an essential right, for good reason. In addition to providing children with knowledge about the world around them, it gives them the opportunity to acquire skills, interact with their peers, discover new interests and talents, and realize their potential. For socioeconomically vulnerable children, education can also help them to advance, widening their professional prospects, the choices available to them, and their future earning potential.
When the education system serving a child is harmed or undermined, the effects are far-reaching. A lost year is difficult to recover. And when that child’s education is undermined because of their national, ethnic, or group identity, the discrimination compounds the harm done.
ACRI’s report, “Disrupted Education: The Violation of Palestinian Children's Right to Education in the West Bank,” reviews the development of the Palestinian education system in the West Bank, and describes the ways in which the education system and school routine have been continually disrupted since October 2023. It includes data, together with testimonies describing the intellectual and emotional impacts on real students and their families. Allowing this situation to continue means accepting the harm done to an entire generation of Palestinian children and their future. We will not stop working to protect and ensure the right to an education so that every child can expand their minds and their horizons.
