On 8.9.2020, the Worker’s Hotline submitted a petition to the High Court on behalf of ACRI and itself, demanding the cessation of trade in the permits of Palestinian workers, and their binding to their Israeli employers.

A large portion of the Palestinian workers in Israel are paying monthly fees to permit traders in order to be able to secure a work permit in Israel. That fee could reach thousands of shekels. The petition is asking to eradicate this phenomenon, which directly violates the rights of workers who simply want to financially support their families with dignity. At the end of 2016, the government decided upon a reform that would prevent the trade of permits and cease the binding of workers to their employers, but it has yet to implement the decisions.
